AIDT at the Montgomery Regional Workforce Training Center (MRWTC) is seeking applicants for a part-time Custodian.
$20 per hour. Successful applicants will be notified by email or by phone.
SYNOPSIS
An individual in this position performs general cleaning and deep cleaning tasks procedures for the Montgomery Regional Workforce Training Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
Duties and Responsibilities General
- Sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floors in common areas
- Use glass cleaner to clean all entrance doors into all buildings
- Wipe and sanitize desks and cabinets. Include the keyboards, computer equipment, and phone
- Dust file cabinets, desks, and other hard surfaces
- Wipe chairs and tables
- Clean windows and sills
- Dust wall hangings, frames, and other decor
- Regularly vacuum, sweep and/or mop floors in classroom & office space
- Clean both sides of front doors. Pay special attention if door is made of glass
- Dust all horizontal surfaces of desks, chairs, tables, and other furniture
- Damp-wipe all horizontal surfaces with disinfectant
- Remove cobwebs from front entry and immediate surrounding areas
- Remove fingerprints and marks from around light switches and door frames
- Take all trash to the dumpster
- Clean all internal glass
Machine Shop Area
- Sweep and mop floors once a week
- Clean tables and chairs daily
- Empty and re-line trashcans
- Remove cobwebs as needed
Office Area/Classroom Area
- Clean whiteboards
- Dust desks, file cabinets, and hard surfaces
- Sanitize desk surfaces and cabinets
- Wipe down chairs, tables, and other surfaces
- Clean/sanitize keyboards, computer mouse, equipment, phone, and other items that are frequently touched
- Dust wall hangings, frames, and other decor
- Wipe and clean windows and sills
- Sanitize doorknobs
- Vacuum carpet areas
- Sweep and mop heard surface areas
Restrooms
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect commodes and urinals with approved germicidal detergent solutions
- Sanitize and clean sinks, countertops, and bathroom fixtures
- Sweep and mop floors with approved germicidal detergent solutions
- Remove cobwebs
- Clean and polish all mirrors, shelves, etc.
- Clean and disinfect vanity and polish chrome
- Empty and re-line trashcans
- Spot wipe handprints and soil from around doors and door handles
- Clean and disinfect commodes and urinals with approved germicidal detergent solutions
- Wipe partitions, tile walls, dispensers, and doors
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors daily
Break Room and Kitchen
- Wipe down and sanitize fixtures
- Clean and sanitize tabletops, refrigerator, microwave (interior and exterior), sink area, vending machines, and water coolers
- Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors
- Remove cobwebs
- Clean and disinfect counter tops
- Wipe outside of cabinets
- Clean and disinfect all table surfaces and chairs
- Dust or wipe wall hangings as appropriate
- Spot wipe handprints and soil from around doors and door handles
- Vacuum carpets
- Empty and re-line waste baskets
- Clean small appliances
- Clean elevator and mop/vacuum stairs as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of generally accepted office practices and processes
- Ability to understand and follow directions received from a diverse technical and management staff
- Ability to learn AIDT processes and job specific systems
- Ability to function in an automated work environment using computer systems, copiers, telephone systems, and cleaning equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- General knowledge of safe practices using cleaning chemicals, machinery, and equipment
- Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, trainees, coworkers, and the general public
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple custodial functions concurrently
- Ability to follow established laws, policies, and procedures, as detailed in the AIDT policy manual
- Ability to work in a constant state of awareness
- Ability to function in a team-based environment
- Ability to comply with AIDT policy regarding attendance (Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job)
- Ability to travel when necessary
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or GED certificate and one year work experience in appropriate area of specialization.
Salary and General:
This is an hourly pay position with starting wage of $20 per hour. Wage is paid monthly. Please follow the instructions provided. Interviews are by appointment only and selected candidates will be contacted by AIDT by the contact information provided to schedule an interview. Applicants must travel to in person interviews at their own expense. All male applicants between the ages of 18-26 must provide proof of Selective Service Registration.
Criminal Background Check:
The applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and to submit a nonrefundable $26.17 payment for the cost of the criminal background check. (Note:
$26.17 fee is based on possession of an Alabama Driver’s License. The fee for the background check may be more or less if the driver’s license is not an Alabama license.) Permanent employment will be contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.
Interviews are by appointment only. If selected for an interview, applicants must travel at their own expense to the interview site.
