AIDT at the Maritime Training Center in Mobile, AL is seeking applicants for part-time Custodians.
$20.00 – $26.00 per hour
Two positions/shifts are available, Monday – Thursday.
First shift is 7 am – 12 pm. Second shift is 1 pm – 5 pm.
Individuals in this position perform general and deep cleaning tasks for the AIDT Maritime Training Center in Mobile, Alabama.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years documented work experience in residential and/or commercial cleaning.
- Must have the ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Must have knowledge of cleaning supplies and products.
- Must be able to use and care for cleaning equipment.
- Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to perform a variety of routine custodial tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
I. ALL AREAS
- Empty wastebaskets/trash cans – clean and sanitize interior and exterior, reline, and dispose of trash in designated areas (daily)
- Dust all furniture including but not limited to desks, chairs, tables and file/storage/book cabinets
- Clean and sanitize tabletops, seats, chairs, and podium(s)
- Clean and sanitize sinks (if any)
- Clean and sanitize telephones
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountains (daily)
- Sweep and damp mop resilient and hard floors (daily)
- Scrub hard floors to remove scuff & heel marks
- Vacuum carpeted floors and mats
- Spot clean spills and stains on carpet (daily)
- Clean glass on desk and furniture in lobby area
- Clean doors, frames, light switches, handles, and walls
- Clean windows as needed (spot clean daily)
- Clean all interior/exterior glass doors and frames (spot clean daily)
- Clean and disinfect all door handles, panic bars, push plates
- Remove dust and cobwebs from ceiling, baseboards, corners, wall areas, light fixtures, etc.
- Vacuum and spot clean fabric furniture
- Dust all surfaces including sills, ledges, moldings, shelves, picture frames, ducts, etc.
- Sweep stair wells, front deck
II. RESTROOMS (Upstairs and Downstairs)
- Clean, sanitize, and polish all fixtures, including toilet bowls and urinals (interior/exterior) and hand basins (daily)
- Clean mirrors (daily)
- Clean and refill all dispensers to normal limits – napkins, soap, tissue, towels, liners, deodorizing units
- Clean all walls, doors, and partitions
III. BREAK ROOM/VENDING/KITCHEN AREAS
- Clean interior and exterior of microwaves (daily)
- Clean and sanitize sink (daily)
- Clean interior and exterior of refrigerators and cooler
- Refill paper towel dispensers to normal limits
IV. GENERAL
- AIDT will provide all cleaning supplies/equipment, and paper products.
- Check the janitorial closet daily to maintain an adequate supply of paper products and cleaning supplies. Notify AIDT to order as needed.
- Report any observed irregularities, repairs, replacements, or supplies needed.
Work Habits
- Comply with AIDT policy regarding attendance. (Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.)
- Communicate professionally and respectfully (verbally and in writing) with staff, company representatives, government officials, and the public.
- Coordinate and account for AIDT resources within assigned area of responsibility.
Salary & General
This is an hourly pay position with wage being $20.00 – $26.00 per hour. Wage is paid monthly. Benefits are available for candidates who meet the eligibility requirements. Please follow the instructions provided. Interviews are by appointment only. Candidates who meet the criteria will be contacted by AIDT at the contact information on the application to schedule a potential appointment. Applicants must travel to interviews at their own expense. All male applicants between the ages of 18-26 must provide proof of Selective Service Registration.
Criminal Background Check
The applicant/s chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and submit a non-refundable $29.07 payment for the cost of the criminal background check. (Note: $29.07 fee is based on possession of an Alabama Driver’s License. The fee for the background check may be more, or less, if the driver’s license is not an Alabama license.) Employment will be contingent upon clearance notification from the criminal background check.
