Community Services Outreach

AIDT’s Community Services Outreach (CSO) department is striving to build rapport in local communities in an effort to assess their workforce needs. Our motto is “Making a difference, one community at a time” and that is exactly what we do. Our team works diligently with communities to enhance employment opportunities.

CSO serves as a resource for communities needing assistance with preparing their local workforce for employment. Many Alabamians are unemployed/underemployed who could have better employment opportunities, but lack the skills/training or education needed. CSO is partnering with the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development to provide assistance with Ready To Work (RTW), GED/Adult Education, Dual Enrollment and serves as a resource on each of the Alabama’s Regional Workforce Councils (10). CSO partners with and encourages local school systems participation with BEST Robotics, Skills USA, RTW and Dual Enrollment.

Alabama’s Ready To Work (RTW)
RTW provides a career pathway for adults with limited education and employment experience at 63 sites by 19 colleges. CSO staff is encouraging school systems to incorporate RTW in their secondary curriculum and enhance course offerings in Alternative Schools. Ready to Work’s workplace environment provides trainees the entry-level skills required for employment with most businesses and industries in Alabama.

Community Relations
CSO partners with County Department of Human Resources to encourage JOBS clients to participate in RTW, GED and short term training programs. AIDT offers in-house designed awareness programs for clients to tool them with employable skills.
CSO works cooperatively with Economic Development Alliances and Chambers of Commerce.
CSO assists local governments and communities with developing workforce strategic plans.

Alabama Work Release and Prison Re-Entry program
Ex-offenders and work release individuals are highly encouraged to participate in the Alabama RTW program, where they can receive their Career Readiness Credential and Alabama Certified Worker Certificate. CSO works with employers to encourage employment for ex-felons and informs employers of the benefits and incentives available for hiring ex-felons.
