MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Business Facilities magazine has honored AIDT’s EV Technology Center as a winner in the 2025 Economic Development Organization (EDO) Awards. The magazine recognized the center in the Statewide EDO category, highlighting its role in advancing workforce development and innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
AIDT, a division of the Alabama Department of Commerce, is building the EV Technology Center on the campus of the Robotics Technology Park in Tanner, Alabama. The facility broke ground in October 2024 and is set to open in early 2026. When completed, it will serve as a world-class training hub for EV manufacturing and related technologies.
“We appreciate this recognition and the spotlight it puts on Alabama’s forward-thinking approach to workforce training,” said Ed Castile, Director of AIDT and Deputy Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “Through the EV Technology Center, we are preparing Alabamians to step confidently into the jobs of the future and helping our state stay competitive in the global automotive industry.”
The EV Technology Center will offer hands-on, high-tech training in areas such as battery systems, electric drivetrains, high-voltage safety, diagnostics, and automation. By aligning its training programs with the needs of EV manufacturers and suppliers, the center will help Alabama maintain its leadership in the automotive sector as it transitions to electric mobility.
Business Facilities will feature the full list of 2025 EDO Award winners in its May/June issue. You can read the full press announcement here.
