Program Coordinator – Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce located in Montgomery, AL is seeking applicants for a full-time Program Coordinator.

SYNOPSIS

Responsible for administering the everyday operations of the program and monitoring program policies and practices to ensure compliance of financial requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare grant packages for submission.
  • Review financial documents, budgets, and grant documents such as Notice of Awards.
  • Process contracts, subrecipient agreements, modifications, invoices and documentation.
  • Enter financial information into tracking systems.
  • Assist Section Managers in reviewing documents, tracking funds, reviewing STAARS entries, and processing payments.
  • Ensure funds are accurately and appropriately reported.
  • Provide technical assistance to division staff, contractors, subrecipients, career center staff, and others to resolve issues with financial documentation.
  • Balance funds, verify expenditures, and compile and prepare financial reports.
  • Compose correspondence, reports, and response to financial monitoring reports.
  • Work with staff to provide fiscal expertise to develop budgets.
  • Work with federal grants and state general funded contracts.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of generally accepted office practices and procedures.
  2. High level of skill with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  3. Ability to function in an automated work environment using computer systems, copiers, electronic mail, and telephone systems.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to work independently without supervision.
  6. Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, coworkers, and the general public.
  7. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple administrative functions concurrently.
  8. Ability to work in a constant state of awareness.
  9. Ability to function in a team-based environment.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

Salary and General:

Initial placement will be based on experience and education applicable to the E4 salary schedule, within a range of $38,052 – $53,775. Paid monthly. Excellent benefits package included.

Criminal Background Check:

The applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and to submit a nonrefundable $24.61 payment for the cost of the criminal background check. (Note: $24.61 fee is based on possession of an Alabama Driver’s License. The fee for the background check may be more or less if the driver’s license is not an Alabama license.) Permanent employment will be contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.
