SYNOPSIS

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Manufacturing Trainer is responsible for delivering specialized training programs designed to enhance the skills of production and technical personnel in the manufacturing of electric vehicles or related automotive, advanced manufacturing industry sector. This role requires an understanding of EV systems, production processes, safety standards, and quality controls, combined with the ability to effectively communicate and transfer technical knowledge to employees or trainees at various skill levels.

The EV Manufacturing Trainer will work closely with manufacturing teams, engineering, quality assurance, and an EV advisory committee to ensure the training content aligns with industry standards, company requirements, and emerging technologies in the EV sector. The goal is to upskill trainees/employees of manufacturing with the necessary skills in the EV ecosystem at the highest quality standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Training Development & Delivery:

  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on electric vehicle manufacturing processes, including assembly, battery production, electrical systems, powertrain systems, laser technologies, precision measurement, safety protocols and other related skills.
  • Create curriculum, manuals, presentations, and other training materials in collaboration with technical and subject matter experts.
  • Conduct hands-on, interactive training sessions that include both theoretical learning and practical application.
  • Deliver classroom-based, practical, and virtual training sessions as required.

 

Training Evaluation & Improvement:

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor trainee progress and provide feedback and coaching to improve skill levels and knowledge retention.
  • Continuously update training materials to reflect advancements in EV technology, manufacturing techniques, and regulatory changes.
  • Provide one-on-one or group-based refresher training for trainees when necessary.

 

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all trainees are trained on proper safety procedures, including handling hazardous materials, electrical systems, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train participants on compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies, ensuring the team maintains safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, performance, and certifications.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with industry to identify training needs and gaps in skill levels.
  • Work with leadership to address any challenges related to workforce skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the development of training programs related to new technologies and processes, such as autonomous driving systems, electric battery technology, and green manufacturing techniques.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Competency in basic electricity, electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, circuit components, electronics, and reading electrical schematics, manufacturing processes, quality control, and assembly line procedure, workplace safety regulations and standards. Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  2. Excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Windows OS & file system, Internet Explorer, and email.
  3. Excellent instructional skills; ability to effectively present technical information to groups in a classroom or lab environment.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
  5. Ability to create complex class schedules, based on availability of multiple resources such as rooms, instructors, & equipment to meet program needs.
  6. Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet competing deadlines as demands evolve.
  7. Ability to safely operate office equipment: computers, printers, scanners, copiers, and other job-related specific equipment.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  9. Ability to work independently.
  10. Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, trainees, coworkers, and the general public.
  11. Ability to follow established laws, policies, and procedures.
  12. Ability to comprehend technical literature and processes; knowledge of technical trends pertaining to new technologies; knowledge of industrial training and retraining procedures.
  13. Ability to comply with all pertinent safety, environmental, and other local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  14. Ability to learn and train new emerging technologies.
  15. Ability to function in an automated work environment.
  16. Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs.
  17. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in industrial maintenance, industrial manufacturing/technical training, engineering, or related area of specialization (automotive manufacturing is a plus); or two-year degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related area of specialization; or an engineering or industrial related baccalaureate degree from a duly accredited institution.
  • A current Alabama Driver’s License is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in training, teaching, or mentoring in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of electric vehicle systems (e.g., battery management, electric motors, power electronics) and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing).

 

Salary and General:

Initial placement will be based on experience and education applicable to the T3U salary schedule, within a range of $68,533 – $100,096. Paid monthly. Excellent benefits package included.

 

Criminal Background Check:

The applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and to submit a nonrefundable $26.17 payment for the cost of the criminal background check. (Note: $26.17 fee is based on possession of an Alabama Driver’s License. The fee for the background check may be more or less if the driver’s license is not an Alabama license.) Permanent employment will be contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.
