CompTIA Instructor

AIDT at the Montgomery Regional Workforce Training Center is seeking applicants for contract CompTIA Instructor.

(up to $30/hour based on experience and education)


This person will provide training services in the areas of Programming, Installation, Security, Network and Maintenance.

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Deliver CompTIA Certification Preparation training to MRWTC trainees.
  • Consistently identify technical strengths/weaknesses of trainees in training programs.
  • Maintain record keeping on trainee trends such as: attendance, punctuality, work ethic, and attitude.
  • Provide weekly/daily reports as needed to MRWTC project manager of training progress of each individual trainee.
  • Spend appropriate time as needed preparing lesson plan/outline of material to be taught in training programs.
  • Prepare MRWTC trainees for CompTIA certification exams.
  • Provide hands-on practical training in computer repair, installation, application downloads and security concepts, as appropriate, to MRWTC trainees.
  • Meet with MRWTC project manager and company contacts as needed.
  • Keep classroom neat and organized at all times.
  • Notify MRWTC project manager of classroom supplies/equipment needs for trainees’ training purposes, as needed.
  • Keep safety top priority in classroom at all times.

  • Comply with all policies and procedures regarding punctuality, attendance and workplace ethics.
  • Communicates professionally with staff, company representatives, government officials and the general public.
  • Contributes to and extracts from the information flow of the Institute using automated tools.
  • Plans daily/weekly work schedule without direct supervision.
  • Coordinates and accounts for AIDT resources.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to understand and follow directions received from a diverse technical and management staff.
  2. Ability to function in an automated work environment.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  4. Ability to work independently and function in a team-based environment.
  5. Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, trainees, coworkers, and the general public.
  6. Ability to set and meet deadlines and to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  7. Ability to follow established laws, policies, and procedures.
  8. Comprehend technical literature and processes.
  9. Knowledge of technical trends pertaining to new technologies.
  10. Ability to effectively present technical information to groups in a classroom or lab environment.
  11. Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs.
  12. Ability to comply with AIDT policy regarding attendance. (Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold current CompTIA Trainer certification.
  • Two years training in CompTIA programs is required.
  • Five years of work experience in Information Technology.
  • A minimum of two additional years of training from a two-year technical college in appropriate area of specialization.
  • A four-year degree preferred.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED certificate

Salary and General:

Initial salary will be based on experience and education.

Interviews are by appointment only. If selected for an interview, applicants must travel at their own expense to the interview site. Male applicants between the ages of 18-26 must provide proof of Selective Service Registration when requested. Employment references and grade transcripts may be requested during the application process.

Contract Details:

This position is a contract position with AIDT-MRWTC in Montgomery, AL. The contractor will be responsible for paying his or her own taxes. There are no fringe benefits offered with this position. The number of hours worked depends on the task assigned. Contract can be ended at any time by AIDT.

Activities of the position are supervised by the Project Manager.

Training hours vary:
8:30 am – 12:00 pm
3:30 pm – 7:30 pm
