Skills@Work
Are you prepared for your next job interview? Do you need computer skills to get a job? Have you heard of diversity and sexual harassment prevention, but you're not sure what they mean?
Without basic workplace skills, many people have a hard time getting a job. AIDT's Skills@Work class will teach you workplace topics like team skills and diversity, communication, how to have a good job interview, as well as introductions to computer topics like using Windows, email, word processing and spreadsheets.
Skills@Work is an evening program, three hours per night, two nights per week, for six weeks. The program includes:
- Employability Skills - Work ethics, team skills, diversity, sexual harassment prevention
- Communication - Verbal, nonverbal, written
- Interview T.I.P.S. - Applications, interviews, follow-up letter
- Introduction to Computers - Using MS Windows, email, MS Word, MS Excel
Currently scheduled classes are:
- April 8th, 2008 - May15th, 2008
Skills@Work is open at no cost for job seekers ranging from high school age through adult. Pre-registration is required. Call Connie Sator at 334-280-4453 to register.
Successful Skills@Work participants will receive a certificate for class completion. Those who meet qualifications for jobs AIDT is helping to fill will get special consideration for pre-employment interviews. A map to the AIDT Montgomery Training Center is available here.
