Sports jobs and education featured in "On The Job" three-part series

Jobs and educational opportunities related to sports in Alabama are featured in a three-part "On The Job" series shown Nov. 18 and Nov. 25 and will complete on Dec. 16 with Troy University's athletic training program and the strength and conditioning program. Alabama Public Television's pledge drive preempted "On The Job" shows on Dec. 2 and 9.

On The Job posterThe Nov. 25 show features included:
      • Have you ever thought of the process required for your favorite soft drink to be available at a stadium? "On the Job" visited the Coca-Cola distribution warehouse in Montgomery to see exactly what takes place to be a top-tier soft drink provider at a major sporting event such as the Troy/Oklahoma State game.
      • Ever wondered how your favorite potato chip got to be a potato chip? Golden Flake in Birmingham showed in detail how a potato makes a transition from a farm to your favorite football stadium on game day.
      • It's nice to relax at home and watch your favorite sporting event, but why sit at home when you can watch your favorite sporting event on location in a state-of-the-art motor home? Tiffin Motor Home, in Red Bay, provided an in-depth look of how a top-of-the-line motor home can enlighten your game day experience. This is something you don't want to miss!
The Nov. 18 show features included:
          • If you can't be at your favorite sporting event in person the next best solution is to watch it on television. It takes a team of professionals to bring everything together, but where do you start if you want to learn about radio or television production? One place you can start is at Calhoun Community College in Decatur.
          • Education is a major part of finding a career in television or radio. But hands-on experience can be just as important at the Troy University/Oklahoma State game making there career in television on the sideline of Movie Gallery Stadium.
          • Ebsco Media is the largest commercial printer in the state of Alabama, employing over 200 people, and working with over 25 colleges and universities across the United States. The program and media guide of your favorite college team likely is produced by Ebsco Media in Birmingham.
