AIDT is seeking to fill a full time Safety Coordinator position. A person in this position coordinates a variety of activities to
support the RTP in conducting, scheduling and developing safety training. Activities of the position are supervised by the
Robotics Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists in analyzing and organizing safety procedures and compliance at the RTP.
• Assists in leading training staff to include safety training and development of classes in safety.
• Design, develop, instruct, and present training programs in: Industrial Safety, Environment, HAZMAT/Loss Control,
Industrial Hygiene, Transportation Safety and all types of Powered Industrial Truck
• Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate computer software applications.
• Assists in managing and directing the safety functions of the training center to include leading documentation of safe work practices and MSDS material.
• Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
• Prepares activities reports for guidance of management.
• Coordinates the preparation of monthly training reports.
• Coordinates activities with vendors for safety training.
• Meets with RTP staff personnel on regular basis to determine need for and to develop and schedule needed safety training.
• Recommends, develops, and implements safety policies and ensures consistent practices across RTP facilities.
• Ensures compliance with all health and safety standard, including federal and state regulatory compliance and provides interpretation of these standards.
• Identifies common violations of OSHA standards.
• Works with vendors for training and ordering materials
• Performs routine and special inspections and analysis of job and system hazards.

• Complies with all policies and procedures as set out in the AIDT/RTP Policy Manual.
• Interacts with vendor personnel and AIDT personnel to schedule classes and provide reports and other information as needed.
• Directs activities of staff to accomplish goals of the organization.
• Plans daily/weekly work schedule.
• Maintains housekeeping to organizational standards.
• Interacts professionally with co-workers, general public and others as required.
• Complies with AIDT policy regarding attendance. (Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of generally accepted office procedures and practices
• Excellent computer skills
• Knowledge of industrial training procedures, workflow, scheduling and planning
• Skill in reading, writing, spelling, punctuating and editing work
• High level of skill with PC computer applications, including MS Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to understand and follow directions from a diverse technical staff
• Ability to interact and coordinate technical training with staff, trainees, company officials and the general public in a professional manner
• Ability to learn internal AIDT/RTP processes and job specific systems
• Ability to train staff and other employees in AIDT/RTP processes
• Ability to work independently with supervision
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs
• Ability to follow established laws, policies and procedures
• Ability to function in an automated work environment
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple administrative functions concurrently
• Ability to work in a constant state of awareness
• Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, trainees, coworkers & the general public
• Ability to function in a team-based environment
• Ability to attain RIA Certification
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum five years industrial Safety/Environment experience; or baccalaureate degree; or associate degree in industrial Safety/Environment and two years experience required
• OSHA 30 Hours Course Completion & Certificate
Criminal Background Check:
In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and guidelines, the applicant
chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and
to submit a nonrefundable $45 payment for the cost of the criminal background check.
Employment will be contingent upon the receipt of a clearance notification from the criminal background check
Salary and General:
Initial placement will be based on experience and education applicable to the E1 salary schedule, within a range of $45,687 –
