Get "On The Job" for Christmas Food and friendliness focus the attention of many people at Christmas, and those elements focus the attention of employers every day, particularly those who produce food and provide hospitality. "On The Job" will create a good taste for jobs in food and hospitality production in the Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 shows. This Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. on your local APT channel, "On The Job" will feature Whaley Pecans, Sister Schubert Homemade Rolls, Chrissie's Treats, the Montgomery Area Foodbank, Habitat for Humanity and the Montgomery Christmas Parade. On Dec. 30, "On The Job" will feature hospitality management training at Faulkner State Community College which includes instruction in culinary arts, hotel/restaurant management, pastry/baking/confectionary, and golf course management/landscape technology. Another feature in the December 23 show is Bobby Jon Drinkard, a Troy native and former "Survivor" contestant. Bobby Jon, shown in the photo here, is now one of the "On The Job" producers with AIDT. Maritime training in Mobile AIDT is seeking applicants for a free 10-week welding training program featuring flux-core, aluminum MIG, shipfitting, oxy fuel cutting, plasma cutting and carbon arc gouging. Classes are conducted during day and evening hours. Download a Maritime Welding and Shipfitting application online from www.aidt.edu/apply. Mail the completed application to your local Career Center. Mobile area high school students may enroll in the next High School Maritime Apprenticeship class, also conducted by AIDT, available in January. Apprenticeship applications are available from high school counselors. Apprentice students receive $8 hourly wages while in training. Successful completors at least 18 years old get full-time maritime jobs.
