AIDT earns international certification

AIDT, Alabama's worker training agency, is the first state workforce training organization in the United States to earn international certification for its quality management system. SRI Quality System Registrar auditors certified AIDT's conformity to requirements specified in ISO 9001:2000 standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO is the source of quality and environmental management standards and some 15,000 international standards for business, government and society. ISO is a network of national standards institutes from 146 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives. SRI is an internationally accredited registrar for quality management systems standards.

AIDT is considered a vital incentive in helping Alabama attract new jobs to the state because of the quality of its worker recruitment and training services provided for new and expanding businesses. AIDT, currently ranked number one among state workforce training agencies in the U.S., is the only program of its kind in the nation to earn the ISO 9001:2000 certification. Since its creation in 1971, AIDT has trained 250,000 workers for 3,500 Alabama organizations. AIDT is part of the state's two-year college system.
