MONTGOMERY – Dr. Freida Hill, chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, recommended and the Alabama State Board of Education approved Dr. Reginald Sykes as president of Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville.

Drake State Technical College is expanding its Applied Technology studies by adding medical assistant to its curriculum.

Alabama’s unemployment rate dropped to 10.8 percent in May. That’s down from 11 percent in April.
State Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees said Friday that wage and salary employment increased by 13,700 over the month, and has gone up by 44,400 since the first of the year.
